Commission on a Way Forward
The first public details of proposed legislation setting out three proposals for resolving the denomination's differences over
human sexuality and the ordination of LGBTQ people, as well as the full report of the Commission on a Way Forward, are part of the United Methodist Judicial Council's October docket. From there, the legislation will go to the special 2019 General
Conference on February 23, 2019.
Here you will find a video by our bishop, Ruben Saenz, encouraging members of the Great Plains Conference to read all of the proposals in their entirety, and to interact with the Great Plains delegation as the time for a special session of the General Conference in February in St. Louis nears. We have included a link to the 93-page document here.
"Regardless of decisions made in February, we will remain focused on our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world," Bishop Saenz writes. "We will continue our work, wherever our mission field is, as faithful followers of Christ."
As he mentions, 18 town hall meetings will be held throughout the Great Plains Conference in the weeks to come. We will be taking a carload to the meeting for the Topeka District on Nov. 11, 2018, 3-5 p.m, at First UMC in Topeka 600 SW. Topeka Blvd.
